In the 13th century, L'Isle was built as a castle on the right bank of the Serein; a millrace surrounded it and formed an island.
History
The Church of Saint Martin was built in 1837 by the architect Tircuit. Because of its Tuscan style, which is rare in France, it was added to the register of historic monuments in 1991. The church contains a 17th-century reredos and the 18th-century painting “Le Martyre de Saint Hippolyte”.
The Tumulus du tertre à Tormancy has been protected as a historic monument by a decree dated 5 February 1931.
