The “Autour de Montmort” hiking route begins in a small square in the centre of Montmort; parking is available there. In the area around Montmort, it follows a path towards Armecy, with the Arroux running to the left.
The “RANDO Montmort Bois Du Nom” route runs along roads for approximately 200 metres; the remaining section leads through the forest and along farm tracks. The “Autour de Montmort” hiking route leads towards Bois du Nom, crosses a stream and then continues for approximately 800 metres to a crossroads.

Culture and History
The Château du Mousseau castle and the ancient sites “Bibracte, Mont-Beuvray. La chapelle Saint-Martin”, “Bibracte, Mont-Beuvray. Les Grandes Portes” and “Bibracte, Mont-Beuvray. La Chaume” are located in the wider regional surroundings of Montmort.
During investigations in September 1986, excavation trenches measuring 2,500 metres in total were laid out at Mont de Jaux. A 120-metre-long, 6-metre-wide and, in its preserved state, 1.5-metre-deep ditch was uncovered.
In 1889, several La Tène-period graves were discovered on a hill near Montmort; the recovered material actually dates from the middle of the 2nd century BC.
According to an analysis, the presumed battlefield of Bibracte was located in the area of Mont de Jaux, a hill between Armecy and Montmort.
