Bellevesvre’s historic location on the border between Franche-Comté and Burgundy made the town wealthy through major fairs. The first mention of a market dates back to the 14th century. The Halle aux Poulets was built in the 19th century for the poultry trade. Every Friday, producers from Bellevesvre and neighboring municipalities sold poultry there to poultry dealers and private individuals; this activity ended in the mid-1970s. At La Brenne, the Moulin d’Or was first mentioned in writing in 1531. It remained in operation until 1945; the mill used water power and a vertical water wheel.
