Oisy: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Circuit des éoliennes begins and ends in Oisy. The circular route is 10.2 kilometres long and is an easy walking trail. It is primarily a nature trail through cultivated fields and can also be travelled by mountain bike. At the wind turbines, the circular route offers 360° panoramic views.

Four of the six wind turbines in the Clamecy/Oisy wind farm are located in Oisy. The wind farm was the first wind farm in the Nièvre département.

Culture and History

Oisy has been documented under the name AUCIACUS since the late 7th century; the name Oisy itself has been documented since 1540.

The statue “Sainte Anne, éducation de la Vierge” is located in the Chapelle Sainte-Anne in Oisy. It is made of painted polychrome limestone. On 15 February 2024, it was registered as a protected object.

The church of Oisy stands outside the village on the edge of a stream. The present church building comprises an older section with a nave and choir, a projecting bell tower, and two chapels that give it the layout of a Latin cross.

A former chapel in Oisy was destroyed in a severe fire and restored in 2018. The restored former chapel currently houses a photography studio.

Village Character

Oisy developed around the spring at Place de la Fontaine.

Oisy stone is considered hard and frost-resistant. It was used for slabs, paving stones, footpath curbs, troughs, cattle waterers, and gravestones. Boundary stones made of Oisy stone have also been preserved in part of the square of Saint-Étienne Cathedral in Auxerre.
