Dun-sur-Grandry lies at the first foothills of the Morvan. The name of the municipality refers to Dun, situated on a hill, and Grandry, in the Veynon valley. Those who choose Dun-sur-Grandry as a holiday destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
Culture and History
At the highest point of the municipality, at an elevation of 378 metres, stands the Notre-Dame-du-Morvan statue, erected in 1375. The Church of Saint John the Baptist contains structural elements from different periods: the apse is the only surviving original part from the 12th century and has three widely splayed windows; the nave dates from the 16th century.
Gallo-Roman remains have been discovered in Dun-sur-Grandry. The wider surrounding region also contains several ancient sites: “Bibracte, Mont-Beuvray. Les Sources de l’Yonne”, “Bibracte, Mont-Beuvray. Le Theurot de la Wivre”, “Bibracte, Mont-Beuvray. Le Theurot de la Roche” and “Bibracte, Mont-Beuvray. La partie occidentale des terrasses PC14 et PC15”.
Landscape and Surroundings
The wider surrounding region of Dun-sur-Grandry is home to the mountains Mont Genièvre and Mont Preneley, the Saut de Gouloux waterfall and the Morvan Regional Nature Park.
Jardin Les Eaux Vives du Morvan grows a wide variety of vegetables in Dun-sur-Grandry. The cultivated areas are located along the banks of the Veynon stream.

The Vélorail offers two routes: “Petit parcours de la Fontaine d’Amour” is 14 kilometres long, including the outward and return journeys, while “Grand parcours du Tacot” covers 24 kilometres, also including the outward and return journeys.
