The Dolmen dit La Pierre-Brûlée in Volnay is a Neolithic dolmen and has been protected as a historic monument since 13 July 1911.
The parish church of Saint-Cyr-et-Sainte-Julitte in Volnay was built in the 13th century and has been protected as a historic monument since 3 November 1925. Its portal features a chiselled-away mystical lamb on the tympanum; the capitals show motifs of grapevines and oaks.
The Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Pitié has two ribbed vaults resting on profiled corbels decorated with a coat of arms. It is a recommended destination in Volnay.
Wine
Volnay AOP is an exclusively red Burgundy wine from the Côte de Beaune wine-growing region. Its geographical area covers the municipality of Volnay and a small part of the municipality of Meursault. Volnay AOP includes, among others, 29 Climats classified as Premier Cru.
Domaine Buffet François has been a family-run winery since 1692. In the village, it offers wine tastings in a traditional, two-storey vaulted cellar. The tasting cellar of Domaine Henri Delagrange offers a unique view of Volnay’s finest appellations.
Getting around
On its section between Beaune and Santenay, the Voie des Vignes passes through Volnay. It is accessible to walkers and cyclists and runs between the vineyards along the Route des Grands Crus de Bourgogne. Along the Voie des Vignes, there is bicycle equipment, picnic tables and illustrated information boards in the villages it passes through.
