The present appearance of the Château de Ménessaire dates from the 17th century. The château has a U-shaped layout with four towers and stands on the site of a former fortified house and a castle built at the end of the 14th century. It has been listed as a historic monument since 1973. Moats and permanent bridges can also be seen at the Château de Ménessaire.

Culture

The Maison du Seigle presents rye cultivation, objects made from rye straw, Morvan thatched houses and carts. Rye is presented there as a symbol and testament to historical living conditions in the Morvan. The Maison du Seigle also presents the history of former rye cultivation, which disappeared in the 1950s. Throughout the year, it offers guided tours for groups and school classes by prior reservation and is accessible to people with reduced mobility.

The Fontaine St Aubin is open to the public and can be visited via a municipal path. It is a spring enclosed by hewn stones beside the path; a watering trough stands next to it. The rite associated with the Fontaine St Aubin involves prayers and drinking water on Saint Aubin’s Day.

The present parish church, Église St Aubin, dates from 1834 and was built on the site of an earlier church. It is connected to the Fontaine St Aubin below, which is used for therapeutic rituals.

Landscape

The tourist road towards Les Settons offers views of the eastern Morvan and the Auxois. The southern slope of Ménessaire, known as La Couture, was formerly covered with rye fields.
