Culture and History
The parish church of Église Saint-Germain is a neo-Gothic church built of dressed stone, with a Latin cross floor plan and a tall, slender bell tower. It dates from 1870 and was built after the previous church was destroyed by fire. It is dedicated to Saint Germanus of Auxerre because his funeral procession stopped in Brazey in 448.
Château de Brazey is privately owned and not open to visitors. There is no parking there, and access is via a private road. Behind Château de Brazey, remains of the former fortified complex, including walls, towers and ditches, can be seen among the vegetation.
Chapelle Sainte-Marguerite was built at the end of the 19th century near an earlier chapel. It is open to the public, can be visited and has parking available. The chapel is located less than 500 metres from a walking trail. Today, it survives as a small building on the edge of woodland and fields; local memories are associated with the site.
Brazey-en-Morvan lies along the former Roman road Via Agrippa. The hamlet of Montot in Brazey-en-Morvan preserves remains of a Roman road. The manor house locally known as Château de Montot was built in 1857 for François-Émile de La Grange, justice of the peace in Liernais and general councillor of Côte-d'Or.
Nature and Trails
At the pond in the hamlet of Le Meix, the supports of a vanished floating washhouse have been preserved. The Itinéraire Brazey-en-Morvan circular route begins and ends at Place de l'Église and passes through Voussey, Les Charrières, Tanasse and the Voie Romaine.
Activities and Events
Ferme des Belles Natures offers discovery visits where visitors can observe farm animals. It also offers full-day nature activities.
The Saint-Germain village festival is organised by the Alégria association on the last weekend of July. In 2025, a market will be held in Brazey-en-Morvan in the former school on the last Sunday of each month from 10:00 to 12:30.
