Plouguernével: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Coat Natous lock staircase is located on the Nantes–Brest Canal and is the only double lock on the canal. The lock is designed as a double-chamber lock with two chambers arranged one behind the other. They are connected by two straight flights of steps, each with sixteen steps.

Culture and history

The Petit Séminaire of Plouguernével was founded in 1669 by Maurice Picot de Coëthual, the parish priest. After being sold during the Revolution, the Petit Séminaire changed function over the following decades and became a departmental hospice in 1932.

The Church of Saint Peter dates largely from the 18th century. It contains an 18th-century wooden pulpit decorated with sculptures of the four Evangelists, as well as a tomb bearing the coat of arms of Maurice Picot de Coëthual. As part of the European Heritage Days 2026, free guided tours with commentary of the chapel of the former seminary were scheduled for 19 and 20 September 2026, from 2 to 6 p.m.

Water and landscape

Pont-Croix is a granite arch bridge in the Vallée du Doré. Visible notches on Pont-Croix bear witness to former wooden sluice gates that served as a weir. Downstream from Pont-Croix, the Vallée du Doré forms a granite chaos.

A footpath in the Vallée du Doré follows the river to an old Roman bridge spanning the watercourse.

A former railway line running through Plouguernével has been converted into a Voie Verte.
