Saint-Georges-de-Mons is located on a crystalline plateau at an average altitude of 715 metres and covers 3,500 hectares. Small valleys run through the municipality; the most important is the Viouze Valley. To the west, Saint-Georges-de-Mons borders the Sioule Gorges, while to the east it borders the Chaîne des Puys.

Landscape and nature
From Saint-Georges-de-Mons, the Vallon de la Viouze hiking route leads through the Viouze Valley. The valley’s river flows into the Sioule; along the way, there are views of the Fades Dam and the Fades Viaduct, built in 1909. The route is designed as a 17-kilometre circular hike lasting 5 hours and 30 minutes and is marked with green signs.
The Cascade du Moulin de Pagès is also located in the Vallon de la Viouze. It is easily accessible on foot from the hamlet of Feuillade in the municipality of Saint-Georges-de-Mons and is suitable for an easy walk with some uphill sections.
Hiking and trails
The Vallon de la Viouze route has a car park on the D19 in Saint-Georges-de-Mons, near the stadium and the Super U. Another circular hike is Les 3 étangs: it is 13 kilometres long, takes 3 hours and 45 minutes, and is marked with yellow signs. Its starting point is on Avenue de La Libération near Saint-Georges-de-Mons Town Hall.
Les 3 étangs also passes by the Rouissoirs des Bruyères, which are referred to as rouissoirs, or retting ponds.
Water
The Centre Aquatique Combrailles Sioule et Morge has a large pool measuring 25 × 12.5 metres and a smaller pool measuring 6 × 12.5 metres. There is also a paddling pool for children under 6 and a slide with a landing pool for children aged 6 and over.
Activities
Aquabike and aqua jogging are offered there all year round, except during the summer holidays.
Farm products and local produce
At Les Petits Fruits des Volcans, visitors can pick fruit themselves directly in the fields, depending on the season and with prior reservation. The organic producer of red berries sells fresh and processed products directly from the farm.
The products offered include blueberries, strawberries and redcurrants, as well as jams, coulis, compotes, syrups, velvety soups, herbal teas and honey produced on site.
