Grandrif: Holiday apartments and houses
In the centre of Grandrif, the 4 km-long hiking trail to the source of La Jarpe begins. From the Col des Pradeaux, there is also a 7.8 km-long hiking trail to the Puy de Loir; the Sentier du Chevreuil is 5 km long.
Nature
Part of Grandrif’s high-altitude pastures is designated as a Natura 2000 site. At higher elevations, the forests give way to peat bogs and wild heathland.
The Crêtes du Forez Nordic area has an access point at the Col des Pradeaux and offers marked trails for ski touring, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledging and mountain biking.
An iron-rich, carbonated spring emerges from the depths in the La Jarpe area.
Culture and history
The Barrage des Pradeaux is one of the major sights in Grandrif and is considered the first French hydroelectric dam.
Two statues of the Virgin Mary in Grandrif church are listed as historic monuments. The reconstruction of Grandrif’s village church was completed around 1894.
The source of La Jarpe was scientifically studied and commercially used in the 19th century.
The Moulin de la Passerelle looks back on 400 years of history connected with flour, oil and the manufacture of pins. It offers tours for groups, individual visitors and families.
