Grazac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Grazac combines a long Cluniac history with historic buildings and paths through the countryside. The Église et Château Prieuré clunisien complex was incorporated into the heritage of the great Abbey of Cluny in 939. The present-day church in the complex was built in 1875 in the Neo-Gothic style and features carved woodwork by Abbé Bancel.

Culture and History

The Château de la Planche was originally built in the 15th century as a small fortified house with a stair tower. It was protected as a historic monument by a decree dated 13 January 2022. The protection covers the entire château, including the pavilions, stable, park, bodies of water, a park structure and the enclosing walls. At the Château de la Planche, visitors can see the interiors and the English gardens with a tree several centuries old.

The main construction phases of the Château de Verchères date from the second half of the 15th century and the first half of the 16th century. The Pont de la Sainte has been documented since the 13th century and is one of the few medieval bridges in Haute-Loire still in use.

Nature

Grazac is one of the municipalities within the area designated as ZNIEFF 830005541, Gorges du Lignon. In the vicinity of Grazac is the 268-metre-long Passerelle des Gorges du Lignon, which hangs above the Lignon du Velay. From Grazac, it can be reached from the car park via a signposted access path involving approximately 30 minutes of moderately difficult walking.

Trails

The Via Fluvia, which connects Lavoûte sur Loire with Lavoute sur Rhône, passes through Grazac. Its 3.4 km section is suitable for cycling, rollerblading, walking and hiking.

The PR626 Le sentier de la Tête d’Âne is an easy hiking trail starting from Grazac; it is listed as 5.2 km long with a duration of 1 hour and 19 minutes.
