Nature and History

The Grand Suc de Breysse is a Strombolian volcano extending across the municipalities of Alleyrac, Présailles and Monastier-sur-Gazeille. At the Grand Suc de Breysse, there is a 5 km discovery trail, for which the round trip is estimated to take around 2 hours.

The rock organ formations at the Moulin du Rocher were created from a younger lava flow that emerged from the incomplete crater of the Grand Suc de Breysse, plunged down into the bed of the Holme stream and cooled slowly.

The nearby Moulin du Rocher used diverted stream water to power millstones for grinding grain.
