Culture and History

The Musée de l'Agriculture Auvergnate showcases agricultural activities throughout the year. It covers the production of Cantal cheese, haymaking and grain harvesting, as well as ploughing and sowing.

The Dolmen de Touls is fully protected as a historic monument; it was listed on 11 February 1986. The Dolmen du Bardon, also known as La Pierre Chabrée, stands in a hollow.

The surrounding area of Coltines is also home to the Musée Alfred Douët, the Château de Massebeau and the Château de Bélinay – one museum and two châteaux.

Activities

Saint-Flour-Coltines airfield offers introductory flights by aeroplane and ULM on three circuits. In Touls, a village in Coltines, the Ferme Equestre du Dolmen offers guided horse-riding tours. There is also a horse-riding holiday package there, available either without accommodation or with accommodation and meals as a table d’hôtes.

The “Pierres et Planèze” hike begins in Coltines, crosses the Planèze plateau with the Monts du Cantal on the horizon and leads to the ruins of Bousquet. The “Parcours d’orientation de Coltines « le Bourg »” orienteering course starts in the village of Coltines and comprises seven stations.

For cyclists, the Chalinargues / Coltines section of the Grande Traversée du Massif Central à VTT follows easily rideable paths across the Planèze to Coltines.

Landscape

There are four named mountains in the surroundings of Coltines: Rocher de Bonnevie, Puy de Roche Jean, Montjournal and Puy de Niermont.
