Châtel-Montagne reveals an architecturally precise and well-structured side with the Église Notre-Dame de Châtel-Montagne: the church has three naves, a transept without lateral projections, a circular ambulatory around the choir, and four circular, radially arranged chapels. The Amicale Châteloise pour l’Église Romane offers guided tours of the Église Notre-Dame de Châtel-Montagne, which must be arranged in advance through the tourist office. From April to November, the exhibition room of the Châtel-Montagne tourist office features monthly changing exhibitions by local artists from various artistic disciplines. The Espace Art Roman in the tourist office uses murals, models, books, and explanations to illustrate the construction history of the Église Notre-Dame.
Several historical sites are located in the wider regional surroundings of Châtel-Montagne: the Abbaye de Montpeyroux, Billy Castle, and the Abbaye de la Bénissons-Dieu.
Activities
The Via ferrata de Grand Bois can be reached from the centre of Châtel-Montagne via an approximately 25-minute approach through the forest. It comprises six sections with difficulty levels ranging from not very difficult to fairly difficult. The route includes two zip lines measuring 100 and 250 metres respectively; alternatively, it can be completed via a bridge over the Besbre without using the zip lines.
The Le Puy du Roc PR 23 hiking trail is an easy, 9 km-long hike lasting approximately three hours, beginning at the Place de l’Église in Châtel-Montagne. It offers a panorama of the Auvergne mountains and passes through several villages, including the very old Chargueraud.

The mountains of Pierre Charbonnière, Haut de Gaillefaut, Bois Rond, and Ray Dadieu are located in the surroundings of Châtel-Montagne. Château du Crozet, a ruin, is also located nearby.
