Mendionde: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
At the foot of the Baigura Massif, a 897-metre-high mountain in the Basque Country, lies the Baigura leisure centre. From there, 45 kilometres of marked hiking trails begin.

Culture
The Château de Garro, including its farm, outbuildings, terraces, former moat and gardens, is fully protected as a historic monument. It was founded by the Navarrese d’Urtubie de Garro family; the pointed arch of a doorway dates from 1300, and the château was rebuilt after a fire in 1700.
The Church of Saint Cyprien in Mendionde has been listed as a historic monument since 1925. Inside, it has three superimposed galleries, characteristic of Basque architecture, as well as ceiling frescoes depicting the four seasons.
The Church of Saint Martin in Gréciette dates from the 15th century. Gréciette Church also has a marble holy-water basin; its cemetery contains disc-shaped crosses.
Nature
The ZNIEFF area “MONT BAIGURA ET CRÊTE D'HALTZAMENDI” includes Mendionde and, within the Baigura Massif, contains most of the peat bogs as well as the main rocky habitats for rock-dwelling birds. The area is designated under the Habitats Directive.
The springs of Ursuia are a natural feature along the Urtsua-Ursuia trail; numerous springs enrich the surrounding peat-bog flora.
History
The Urtsua-Ursuia hiking trail includes a section of the historic Napoleon Road. The Mokorreta site on the same trail once contained a protohistoric fortified settlement.
Activities
The Baigura leisure centre offers paragliding, off-road scooter rides, mountain biking, climbing and canyoning as outdoor activities. Baigu'Raid offers one- to two-hour introductory rides on electric off-road scooters, as well as guided descents on off-road scooters from the Baigura leisure centre.
The Petit Train du Baigura reaches the 897-metre-high summit in half an hour. At the Baigura leisure centre, you can eat at the La Gaita bar-restaurant.
