Gourette: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Gourette lies at the heart of one of the major glacial cirques of the Pyrenees. The Gourette area has been classified for its landscape since 1936.

Nature

The “Copains des Pyrénées” interpretation trail is a fun, accessible family hiking trail where visitors can observe and understand the natural landscapes. From Gourette, the route to the four mountain lakes of Louesque, Uzious, Lavedan and Anglas also leads into the high mountains and is intended for experienced hikers.

The peaks of le Moustachou, Mont Laid, Pic Esquerra and Pène Médaa are located in the vicinity of Gourette.

Experiences

The first natural climbing route on the eastern face of Pène Sarrière can be reached from Gourette after a 40- to 45-minute walk. The Bézou beginners’ area is designed for first ski runs on green slopes.

Gourette has a secured 200-metre-long toboggan run, separate from the skiers, with free access. On the “Balade en dameuse”, visitors can take a one-hour ride after the slopes close in the evening, accompanied by an entertainer, in a piste groomer converted to accommodate 10 to 15 people.

Culture

On the route to Lac d'Anglas are the remains of the Anglas mining facilities, set in a mountain landscape characterised by pastureland.

The Notre Dame des Neiges cinema in Gourette shows films on their nationwide first release and also serves as a venue for conferences, performances and concerts.

In the wider regional area around Gourette are the historical site of Abbaye Saint-Savin-en-Lavedan, Château Fort, the historical site of Maison paternelle de Bernadette, and the Monastere de Marie-Immaculee, Reine du Rosaire monastery.

Geographical Location

By car, Gourette is mainly reached via the A64 motorway, followed by the RN134 towards Laruns and finally the D918 to the winter sports resort.
