Leyritz-Moncassin: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture and History

The history of Leyritz-Moncassin is closely linked to Château Moncassin. Château Moncassin is a 19th-century residence situated on a hill in the Lot-et-Garonne département.

As early as 1259, Château Moncassin was a fortified feudal residence with an agricultural supply farm and a wine cellar. Leyritz-Moncassin's cultural heritage sites also include Laurent Deymier's plant sculptures. The Church of Notre-Dame-des-Prés is one of the 12th-century churches and monuments in Leyritz-Moncassin. The Notre-Dame-des-Prés sanctuary is also occasionally cared for by the Capuchins of Aurenque.

During a tour of Château Moncassin, Vincent Delmotte explains the history of the estate, guides visitors through its grounds and along the rampart walk, shows them the wine cellar and offers a wine tasting.

Landscape and Wine

Leyritz-Moncassin lies on the edge of the Landes forest and on a hill with far-reaching views. The village preserves historic buildings and offers open views across the valleys.

The Château Moncassin wine-growing area covers eleven and a half hectares and surrounds the château and its park. The Château Moncassin wine cellar offers tours, wine tastings and direct sales of its wines.
