La Réunion: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
The Château du Sendat is fully protected as a historic monument. It preserves remains of a building from the late Middle Ages as well as a château from the 17th century, which was extensively restored in the mid-19th century by Félix Duban. The protected estate also fully includes the gardens, parks, avenues and vistas.
Culture and history
The Eglise Saint-Eutrope de Couthures is a Romanesque church that was fortified during the Hundred Years’ War and the Wars of Religion. The former spring at the Eglise Saint-Eutrope de Couthures continues to be a pilgrimage destination.
Every year, a very old pilgrimage takes place at the Eglise de Beyrac on Whit Monday. The Eglise de Beyrac is normally open only once a year during the pilgrimage. Architecturally, it is a medieval Romanesque church with a single-nave interior, a semicircular apse and a two-arched bell gable.
The Eglise du Sendat is part of the cultural heritage of La Réunion; the burial site of the last Baron of Sendat is located nearby. The Galerie Égrégore is housed in a former barn with 24 nativity scenes, as well as in the remains of a chapel that have been converted into an art gallery.
Nature and trails
The 27-hectare grounds of the Galerie Égrégore are classified by the Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels de Nouvelle Aquitaine; works of art can be viewed outdoors there. The local heritage of La Réunion also includes a washhouse surrounded by centuries-old trees.
The trails near La Taillade are described with different route profiles. The La Taillade circular route is classified as difficult, is 21.3 kilometres long and takes around 5 hours and 20 minutes. The La Taillade forest walk is 3.4 kilometres long and signposted with colour markings. The short La Taillade walking trail runs around the La Taillade holiday centre in La Réunion and is used to discover the fauna and flora of the state forest.
Those choosing La Réunion as a travel destination can plan to rent a holiday apartment.
