Casseneuil: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture and History

Casseneuil lies on a natural peninsula at the confluence of the Lot, Lède and Sône rivers. The village is home to the Church of Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul, which is classified as a Monument historique. It dates partly from the 13th century and was extensively rebuilt in the 15th century. The walls and ceilings of the present-day choir are decorated with murals and frescoes from the 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th centuries.

Casseneuil is a fortified village dating from the 13th century, with a remarkable medieval heritage. This historic villagescape includes medieval lanes with half-timbered houses; some have projecting upper storeys that extend over the river. In the Middle Ages, the banks of the Lède were the district of Casseneuil’s tanners and dyers.
