Saint-Sulpice-De-Guilleragues: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Way of St. James (Chemin de Compostelle) runs through Saint-Sulpice-de-Guilleragues. The Chemin d’Amadour passes through Saint-Sulpice-de-Guilleragues; the village is Stage 10. This tenth stage is a 29-kilometre hiking route through Saint-Sulpice-de-Guilleragues.

The Voie de Vézelay was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in December 1998 as part of the French routes to Santiago de Compostela.

History

The Château de Caze is a medieval building dating from the 14th century and has been fully listed as a historic monument since 6 September 2007. The protection covers the old buildings, the remains of the medieval fortifications, and the entire grounds of the château.

The Château de Guilleragues was built at the beginning of the 14th century. Around 1564, it was extended at both ends with additions of equal height. The watermill Moulin à eau de l’Etourneau dates from the 13th century; it ceased operating in 1947.

Culture

The Church of Saint-Sulpice is a Romanesque church dating from the 12th century. During its restoration in 1998, medieval wall paintings were discovered in the choir, including depictions of compasses and angle measures, which are considered attributes of master builders.

Sightseeing

The Church of Saint-Sulpice can be visited on request at the town hall on its opening days. The Château de Caze can be viewed from the road when driving towards the church.
