The Notre-Dame Abbey Church stands on a rock above the Isle valley. It is the last surviving remnant of the once-important medieval abbey of Guîtres, whose construction began in the 11th century.

The Notre-Dame Abbey Church has a chestnut-wood roof structure dating from the 15th century, which is in perfect condition. The Chemin du patrimoine in Guîtres is 2 km long and comprises 14 stops. Activities

History

The Train Touristique Guîtres Marcenais is an authentic historic train with carriages dating from 1900 and wooden benches; it travels through the green Gabaye Forest in the north of Gironde.
