Grignols: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Only the remains of the Saint-Jean-Baptiste d'Auzac church can still be seen in Grignols. It was built in the Lysos Valley at the end of the 12th or beginning of the 13th century and was listed as a historic monument on 30 May 1961.

Culture

The Saint Michel de Campin church has a 12th-century nave and a rectangular bell tower from the 14th century with a flat top. The Romanesque church of Campot was built at the end of the 11th century and overlooks the Lysos Valley.

Notre-Dame de l'Immaculée Conception is a Gothic church with a projecting bell-tower entrance featuring three portals. The oldest part of the Saint-Loubert-de-Loutrange church is an 11th-century nave.

The hall in Grignols was completed in 1939 using glass and reinforced concrete and is considered a rare example of the Popular Front's modernist ambitions. The Château de Grignols contains structural elements from the 16th and 17th centuries and was probably built on the site of an older building. Following restoration work, the Château de Grignols has 20 bedrooms, six lounges and a dormitory in the château, as well as a bergerie serving as a large reception room for weddings, receptions and seminars.

The “Coteaux calcaires et réseau hydrographique du Lisos” area contains unmanaged limestone slopes with juniper heathland and dry orchid-rich grasslands. A small population of the marsh fritillary has been observed on some of the area's grasslands.

Local Traditions

Capon is considered a long-standing local tradition in Grignols; in the past, farmers used capons to pay their rent. “Chapon de Grignols” has been a registered and approved brand since 2014. The Foire aux chapons de Grignols is held on the Sunday before Christmas.
