Bourg: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Bourg is a historic village situated high above the water and divided into an upper town and a lower town. It is also home to buildings, guided tours and paths that showcase the town between the Dordogne, vineyards and history.

Culture and history

The Porte Batailleyre, also known as the Porte de la Mer, is a historic monument connecting Bourg’s upper town with the port. The Château de la Citadelle was rebuilt in the 18th century and is surrounded by a French Baroque garden.

During guided tours at the Musée de la Citadelle de Bourg, the collection of horse-drawn carriages is explained; visitors can also see the preserved cavalry tunnel there. During the Second World War, impressive 70-metre-long reinforced-concrete oil tanks were built and used in former quarries.

Paths and discoveries

The Boucle de Bourg-Lansac hiking route offers a 7.7-kilometre version through the village and to the crypt, as well as a 14.6-kilometre extension to Lansac. The route begins in the centre of Bourg and leads through the vineyards towards Lansac.

The “Entre pierre et rivière” cultural quiz allows visitors to explore Bourg with an accompanying booklet in which they can test their knowledge. City Golf à Bourg is a mobile 10-hole mini-golf course that combines sport with cultural discovery.

By the water

The Port et halte nautique de Bourg on the Dordogne allows boats measuring less than 12 metres in length and with a draught of 3.40 metres to moor.
