Culture and History

The church has preserved its choir and nave. Its west façade features a portal with four archivolts and sculpted capitals. The west façade, including the bell wall, and the entrance portal have been listed as historic architectural elements since 15 July 1963.

La Chartreuse du Bignac is a 17th-century building surrounded by a 22-hectare park. The park includes springs, ponds, a dovecote, an orchard and a herb garden. The Chartreuse is situated on a hill in Saint-Nexans and offers 360-degree views over vineyards, forests and orchards. It also has a gastronomic and traditional restaurant.

Paths and Discoveries

The Boucle de Binassat is a 6 km circular hiking trail in Saint-Nexans. It follows small paths through the Bergerac vineyards and offers opportunities to discover architectural heritage along the route. The Statue du Moine Soldat is one of the designated sights on the loop. It is associated with warrior monks whose mission was to defend the kingdom. From 1147 onwards, the warrior monks associated with the statue wore white garments with a red cross.

The GR 6 long-distance hiking trail also runs through the southeastern part of Saint-Nexans.
