The Montées Paunatoises is an annual outdoor event held in early May. During this event, amateur athletes explore Paunat on foot or by bicycle.
Nature
At the Bac de Sors, Paunat has direct access to the Dordogne. There is no beach there; swimming is not permitted.
The Boucle des Bertrandoux is an easy 7.6-kilometre circular trail with an approximate duration of two hours. The Boucle des Montoises is a 10-kilometre circular trail of moderate difficulty with an approximate duration of three hours.
The Boucle des Bénédictins starts and ends in the centre of Paunat. Trails around Paunat connect the surrounding villages and can be used on foot or by mountain bike.
Three streams are mentioned in connection with Paunat: Le Paunat and Le Pradelle cross the municipality, while La Rèze borders it. Trout fishing is permitted in three first-category waterways – Le Paunat, Le Pradelle and La Rèze, which borders Paunat.

Culture
The Église Saint-Martial is the surviving remnant of an important Benedictine abbey. The church and its surroundings are protected as heritage sites: the church was partially classified as a Monument historique on 9 July 1956, and the surrounding area was partially listed as a Monument historique on 12 March 1959.
The abbey church of Paunat has an imposing 25-metre-high bell-tower porch. It is considered one of the oldest abbey churches in the Périgord.
The Jardins de la Chartreuse du Colombier offer visitors Baroque pavilions, dovecotes, varied plantings, old roses, peonies and a Florentine-style vegetable garden. The gardens have been awarded the “Jardin remarquable” designation.
The Musique en Sol festival comprises four concerts held in the abbey church of Paunat during the first half of August.
Local Life
Every summer, Paunat hosts gourmet markets featuring local producers from the region.
