Mittelwihr is located along the Alsace Wine Route. The “Bennwihr et Mittelwihr, 2 villages pour un même destin” interpretation trail presents the history of the two villages: they were completely destroyed in 1944 and rebuilt.
The landscape is characterised by the Mandelberg, the “hill of almond trees”, above Mittelwihr. The “Mandelberg” Grand Crus thrive on the Mandelberg. Mittelwihr’s microclimate also allows almond trees to blossom every year between two rows of vines.

Things to do
The “Sentier des Perles” hiking trail starts at the Place de l’Église in Mittelwihr. It is 10 km long, takes an estimated 3 hours and has an elevation difference of 170 m.
Culture and History
The Sainte-Brigitte Church in Mittelwihr has been documented since 1114. The former Sainte-Brigitte Church was destroyed on 17 December 1944. The lower sections of the north and west walls of the nave, as well as the lower storeys of the choir tower, have been preserved.
Between 1959 and 1960, a new church was built and reserved for Protestant worship.
Wine and Regional Impressions
At Domaine Greiner-Schleret, the offering includes a visit to the wine cellar followed by a guided tasting of five wines, accompanied by a piece of Kougelhopf.
The “Découverte vigneronne” winegrower experience at Domaine Specht includes an approximately one-and-a-half-hour hike through vineyards, passing streams and almond trees.
