Urmatt: Holiday apartments and vacation homes

The Circuit des Croix is a 9 km circular route that takes three hours to complete. It is suitable for all age groups and includes several wayside calvaries, some of which date back to the time of the French Revolution.

Hiking

The Sentiers des Géants consist of five walking loops, each 6 to 8 km long and involving no more than 300 metres of ascent, which can be combined with one another.

The Urmatt–Schirmeck stage is marked with the red rectangle of the Club Vosgien, follows the Grande Randonnée GR® 53 and joins the GR® 5 from the Col de l'Engin onwards.

The Circuit rando B23 “La cascade du Nideck” is a 20 km hiking route that starts at a railway station and showcases Urmatt, Oberhaslach, the Nideck Cascade and its castle along the way.

Nature

The Soultzbach Cascade lies in a rocky basin above Urmatt and forms a waterfall approximately 8 metres high. A path leads along the stream to it.

The Soultzbach Cascade is easily accessible on foot from the centre of Urmatt.

La Porte de Pierre is a natural monument made of pink sandstone in the forest of the Donon Massif.

The formation is shaped like a double gate, 5 metres high and 7 metres wide, and lies at an altitude of 858 metres.

Culture

The Sainte-Croix Church in Urmatt was consecrated on 29 October 1865 by Monsignor Raes, the Bishop of Strasbourg, and built according to the plans of architect Alexandre Matuzynski.

The Jardin du Souvenir is open to the public and was renovated in 2021.

The oldest surviving steles embedded in the walls of the Jardin du Souvenir date from the first decades of this century.

Two sculptors' symposiums held in Urmatt resulted in 17 monumental works entitled “In situ” and “La Roche Solaire”.
