Klaukkala
Accommodation in Klaukkala
Klaukkala offers different sides to a stay: a walk along the Isosuo boardwalk gives you a sense of wilderness, Tornimäki has a ski trail for winter, and architecture and events are also part of the town’s character. When planning your trip, the question is therefore less about choosing just one type of holiday and more about which of these experiences interests you most.
Nature and activities around Isosuo
The Isosuo boardwalk winds through an area that gives you a sense of wilderness. It was completed in 2022. Those who want to explore Klaukkala on foot can also take the Isosuo outdoor trail, which is about 3 km long in total. These two specific routes give you a sense of the natural side of the town: the walk along the boardwalk and the approximately 3 km outdoor trail.
In winter, the Tornimäki ski trail adds another option for active days. It is 3.0 km long, illuminated, and suitable for both classic and freestyle skiing. As a moderately difficult trail, it is a clear choice for anyone who wants to ski without limiting themselves to either of the two techniques.
Architecture and events
The architecture of Klaukkala Church and the parish centre is another distinctive feature of the town. Both received an honourable mention in the 2004 Concrete Structure of the Year competition. The award recognised the innovative architectural and structural design, as well as its realisation, in which concrete makes up a significant part of the visible result. For visitors interested in culture, this is a specific reason to connect Klaukkala not only with nature trails and winter sports, but also with architecture.
The church was consecrated on 28 November 2004 by Mikko Heikka, Bishop of the Diocese of Espoo, on the first Sunday of Advent. This precise date adds an important point in its history to the architectural story. Together with the honourable mention in 2004, it makes the church and parish centre a special focus for a trip that also takes in the built environment.
Another cultural landmark is Monikko, a multi-purpose building in the centre of Klaukkala completed in 2017. Youth services, basic arts education, hobbies, events and social gatherings all take place under one roof. The event hall hosts a wide range of activities, including entertainment concerts and classical music, as well as theatre, children’s events, corporate events and private functions.
When choosing a holiday apartment, you can start by considering which side of Klaukkala you want to shape your stay: nature and a walk around Isosuo, cross-country skiing on the moderately difficult trail, or architecture and culture around the church and Monikko. The activities described differ in both type and character.
Other destinations you can explore include Helsinki, Rajamäki, Raseborg, Ingå, Vihti, Vantaa, Savijoki and Tuusula.
