Hejls combines protected nature, varied trails and a surprising number of opportunities for active days during your holiday. Around the town, you can explore Hejls Nor, signposted routes, a versatile activity park and special activities such as football golf. Those looking for a holiday apartment or holiday home in Hejls can choose their holiday destination based on whether they want to focus on observing nature, staying active, playing games together or making cultural discoveries.
Nature around Hejls Nor
Hejls Nor, also known as Hejlsminde Nor, is a Natura 2000 site with a rich variety of birds and plants. A circular route leads through this unique natural area. With a little attentiveness, you may spot white-tailed eagles and marsh harriers there; orchids also bloom in early summer. These special features give a stay in Hejls a clear connection with nature, without every day having to follow the same pattern.
From several elevated locations in the southern part of Hejls, you can enjoy views towards Hejls Nor. Paths from Hejls Multipark lead into the surrounding landscape at Hejls Nor and the Little Belt. This allows you to choose between spending the day in the park and continuing into the countryside when planning your day. To the west of the town lies the coastal forest of Vargårde Skov; a signposted hiking trail runs along its coast.
Hiking and cycling with different focuses
A recreational trail on the former railway line runs through Hejls and continues to Hejls Nor. For cycling excursions, there is a national cycle route that passes through Hejls and leads out of the town along Overbyvej. A regional cycle route passes Hejls Church, continues along the trail and connects with the national cycle route.
These trails offer different ways to get to know Hejls: You can choose a nature-focused route, cycle through the town or include individual sights in your plans. When looking for accommodation, it is therefore worth first deciding on your preferred pace. Those who want to combine as many activities as possible will plan differently from travellers who prefer to alternate individual excursions with longer periods of relaxation.
Active experiences at Hejls Multipark
Hejls Multipark is an activity and nature park with a zip line, a Tarzan course and a paved cycling track. There are also outdoor fitness facilities, a panna court and opportunities to play krolf. The park therefore offers several different types of activity in one place: from playful competition to exercise on the cycling track or at the fitness facilities.
Kolding Fodboldgolf in Hejls also focuses on trying things out together. The 18-hole course features obstacles, bunkers and water hazards. Visitors can also try bubble soccer, 5-Kamp and Stødbånd. For a round of four-player football golf on the 18-hole course, you should allow approximately 1.5 hours.
Culture and practical information
Hejls Church is a cultural highlight. It was built in the 12th century and has a Romanesque nave and Romanesque chancel, as well as a Gothic tower. The church adds an insight into the history of the town to the nature and activity experiences.
For orientation around Hejls Multipark, step-free paths connect the car park at Hejls Multihus with the park. Toilets are available in the adjoining hall. When choosing your holiday apartment in Hejls, you can already take such specific daily destinations into account in your general holiday planning and combine nature, culture and activities in a way that suits you.
