The altar wall consists of figures distributed across the wall, depicting biblical motifs. Robert Jacobsen created them from old, discarded iron from the harbour in Esbjerg and covered parts of them with gold.

The two abstract glass paintings by Robert Jacobsen are also among the church’s special details. They are located above the doors in the southeast and southwest of the church interior and reproduce the colours and light of the sky and sea, as well as clouds and rain over Ho Bay at different times of day. For travellers interested in culture, this creates a theme that connects local art with the impressions of the coastal landscape.

The old town centre around Guldagervej and Hjerting Byvej is also part of finding your way around the town. The winding streets are relatively well preserved and make the historic structure of the town recognisable. From the 16th century onwards, Hjerting was a loading harbour for Varde and reached its peak in the 18th century. The past therefore remains a separate way of accessing the town’s history, alongside the coast, the path and church art.
