Discover Ejerslev Lyng – Coastal Paths, Nature and History
Ejerslev Lyng between Coastal Paths and Moler Cliffs
Ejerslev Lyng combines a distinctive coastal landscape with hiking trails, bathing spots and traces of a long settlement and harbour history. The changing landscape between beach meadows, grassland, coastal cliffs and beaches is particularly impressive. Most of Ejerslev Vang consists of these landscape elements; along the coast, Ejerslev Lyng also features particularly valuable natural areas. Families and other holidaymakers who enjoy spending time outdoors can therefore create a trip with different daily rhythms: you can plan an extended hike, spend time by the water or explore historic sites and geological features.
Hikes with Different Perspectives
The 150 km-long “Kystruten Mors” hiking route leads on foot around the Limfjord island of Mors and passes through Ejerslev Vang. Those who prefer a longer hiking holiday or individual sections will find a clear framework here for planning their days. The areas in Ejerslev Vang are freely accessible. A coastal path also leads from a southern car park along the coastal slope to a viewpoint on Hulhøj.
Shorter, locally described paths also offer various possibilities. The Heart Path between Ejerslev Havn and Mors leads at the end of Strandvænget across a field down to the lagoon; the lagoon can be circled on either the right or the left. In the direction of Ejerslev Lyng, the Heart Path runs via Strandvænget. The “Ejerslev Lyng” circular walk leads from Ejerslev Havn to the water and then back to the harbour via Lyngen and Utkærvej. When planning your trip, you can therefore choose between a long island route, a path along the lagoon and a loop returning to the harbour.
Nature, Views and Bathing
Hulhøj is located about 41 m above sea level. From there, you can see Feggeklit, the seal reserves, Ejerslev Røn, Blinde Røn, Livø, Himmerland and Fur. The view thus connects several landscapes above the Limfjord. Behind Vester Hunnerup Strand rise distinctive moler cliffs and steep slopes. There, you can look for traces of fossilised animals and plants. Vester Hunnerup Strand is suitable for bathing. The bathing beach at Ejerslev Lyng can be reached via Lyngen and then via Villavej. Ejerslev Lyng is also listed in the bathing water profiles of Morsø Municipality.
Harbour, Church and Historical Traces
The history of the area includes various historical layers. Ejerslev Lyng was once characterised by small workers’ houses and smallholdings; incomes were supplemented by day labour and fishing. Ejerslev Havn dates from 1911 and was formerly a shipping harbour for moler. Today, the landscape there features a natural harbour with a lagoon at the foot of its moler cliffs.
Skarreborg Voldsted is located in the northern part of Ejerslev Lyng. Independently of this, Skarreborg Castle was built around the year 1100 on the summit of Krogsbjerg. Ejerslev Church adds another cultural element with a medieval choir and a medieval nave; the tower was built in 1936. Museum Mors offers groups a guided fossil hunt at Ejerslev Molergrav.
The Right Accommodation for Your Trip Planning
When looking for a holiday apartment or holiday house in Ejerslev Lyng, you can first consider which experiences should shape your holiday. Those who mainly want to hike can include the various routes and their described landscapes in their planning. For days spent bathing, the bathing beach at Ejerslev Lyng and Vester Hunnerup Strand are important. Anyone interested in natural history can combine the moler cliffs and fossil hunting with the viewpoints at Hulhøj. You can therefore choose accommodation in Ejerslev Lyng according to your preferred mix of coast, activity, water and culture, without having to limit your holiday to a single activity.
