In the immediate vicinity of Gerå, Gerå Beach is located 2 km east of the town on the Kattegat and within the Aså-Gerå Vildtreservat. It extends from the southern part of Gerå to the southeastern part of Aså. The beach meadows of Asaa and Geraa were designated as a wildlife reserve in 2001. Gerå Beach can be reached from Gerå via Strandgårdsvej. Three Hiking Trails with Different Focuses

Near Geraa and Melholt, there are three hiking trails measuring 7.6 km, 4.7 km and 3.7 km. All three start in Geraa at the Sorensminde farm. The historic farm is more than 400 years old, making it a special starting point for exploring the trails.

The red route runs along the Gerå in several places. It is therefore suitable for a day of hiking in which the course of the river plays an important role. The yellow route leads to the long Borgmestermolen pier. From there, you can enjoy a wide view across the coastal bird protection area and the Kattegat. Those who focus primarily on distance when choosing a route can choose between 3.7 km, 4.7 km and 7.6 km.

The green route leads through the maritime foreland to the Kattegat and continues north along the old Kongevej from Hals to Frederikshavn. Along the way, it passes Hundeskoven. It also passes a stretch of coast where numerous suicide torpedoes and a large amount of anti-aircraft equipment were found at the end of the Second World War. In this way, the route combines natural surroundings, historic paths and an unusual historical site, without giving all three trails a uniform character.
