Mikulov combines winter sports at Bouřňák with cultural monuments, mining history and cross-border trails. The local ski area has six downhill runs and cross-country ski trails; two ski lifts also lead from Mikulov to Bouřňák.
Nature and Trails
The Sport Centrum Bouřňák ski area is located in the territory of the municipalities of Mikulov, Nové Město and Moldava in the Ore Mountains. In summer, there are marked trails for hiking. The Krušnohorská magistrála can also be used for cycling in the area of Sport Centrum Bouřňák during the summer.
In the immediate vicinity of Mikulov, Vlčí kámen is a viewpoint overlooking the valley. The hiking route from Mikulov to Vlčí kámen begins at the car park below the ski slope.
Border Region and Educational Trail
The cross-border Rehefeld/Moldava educational trail can be started at any point and walked in either direction. Along the trail, 16 information boards provide information about the history and nature of the Czech-German border region.
Culture and History
The parish church of Saint Nicholas the Bishop, known as St. Nicholas Church, was built at the beginning of the 18th century on the foundations of an older, damaged church. It is a late Baroque sacred building and has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 6 June 2002.
The Mikulovský Tunnel is also a cultural monument. The section of the Most–Moldava railway line running through Mikulov has been a cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 1998.
The mining settlement of Neu Schellenberg probably already existed in the area of present-day Mikulov at the beginning of the 15th century, in the years 1404 and 1410.
Underground Mining
The Lehnschafter adit is one of the oldest parts of the mine in Mikulov. Visitors can choose between three prepared underground tours in the adit, each lasting one to two hours. The “Mikulov v Krušných horách” railway station is 650 metres from the entrance to the Lehnschafter adit.
