Ráječko: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Ráječko is situated on the elevated left bank of the Svitava. The village retains a historically valuable urban structure, with a village green and houses along the Chrástek stream.

History

Ráječko was first mentioned in writing in 1531. At that time, the oldest part of the village was a farm belonging to the Rájec Castle estate and administratively formed part of the Rájec domain.

At the Ráječko cemetery stands a wayside shrine (boží muka), the only registered cultural monument in the cadastral area of the municipality of Ráječko. In the Central List of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic, it bears registration number 19515/7-583.

Geographical setting

To the east of Ráječko, the foothills of the Drahany Highlands extend as far as the village. To the west of Ráječko, the foothills of the Kunštát Highlands can be seen beyond the Svitava Valley.

The regional biocentre RBC JM14 Dolní Lhota is located in the administrative area of Ráječko. The regional biocorridor RK 1416 B also lies within the administrative area of the municipality of Ráječko.

Nature

Hlubňa is a small retention pond or water-retention basin at the end of Lesní Street in the upper Chrábek Valley. Frogs, grass snakes and ducks can be observed at Hlubňa; frogs lay their eggs there every year.

Activities and events

The international Svitavská stezka cycling corridor runs through Ráječko; a road-independent cycle path has been built south of the village.

The “Ráječkovská desítka” event took place in Ráječko on 7 February 2015 as the 21st edition of a running race.
