Staré Dobrkovice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Staré Dobrkovice archaeological site is classified as an important archaeological locality in category ÚAN I and assigned to the periods of the Mousterian and the High Middle Ages. The documented chronological framework of the site therefore extends from the Palaeolithic to the Middle Ages.

Culture

Part of the area's historical character is the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk. It forms part of a unique ensemble of numerous small Baroque religious buildings scattered across a wide area beneath Mount Kleť and associated with pilgrimage processions to the well-known pilgrimage site of Kájov.

The Renaissance mill is designated as a cultural landmark of Staré Dobrkovice. The Dobrkovice Mill on the Polečnice, also known as Hamerský mlýn, is a protected architectural monument and a Gothic-Renaissance-Baroque building complex. The Dobrkovice water mill, also known as Hölderův mlýn and Hammer Mill, was converted from a water-powered hammer mill.

The railway bridge on the northern outskirts of the village was built in 1892. In addition, another bridge over the Polečnice is recorded in Staré Dobrkovice.

Nature

South of Staré Dobrkovice lies Dobrkovice Cave, directly beside the road from Český Krumlov to Kájov. In the Staré Dobrkovice section of the cycle path, it is located below a vertical rock face with an overhang.

The cave was probably temporarily inhabited by a group of Upper Palaeolithic hunters of the species Homo sapiens sapiens. A small number of bone and flint tools, as well as the remains of prehistoric animals, were found there.

Children from several generations went to see the stalactite formations beneath the Dobrkovice Bridge.

Part of the row-type development of Staré Dobrkovice along the stream extends into the Blanský les Protected Landscape Area.

Cycle path

The Malý Lazecko-Vyšenský Circuit is a 14 km-long paved loop route that takes around two hours to complete. The short loop is also suitable for children and less experienced cyclists.
