Poděvousy: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

A small chapel dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk stands in the village square of Poděvousy. It probably dates from the early 20th century.

Culture and History

Poděvousy was first mentioned in 1115; this first mention appears in a forgery concerning the ownership of Kladruby Monastery. In the 14th and 15th centuries, the village belonged to the Hrádek-Lacembok estate. From the 16th century until the end of the feudal era, Poděvousy shared its history with the Lobkowicz and later Trauttmansdorff estates in Horšovský Týn. Despite the unclear early history, experts conclude that the village has an early feudal origin.

In the 19th and early 20th centuries, many residents of Poděvousy worked in the nearby coal mines of Výtůň.

Veselá muzika z Chodska played at the 9th Poděvousy Municipal Ball. The young firefighters were responsible for decorating the hall and performing the opening act.

The traditional pilgrimage in Poděvousy was announced for 19–21 June 2026. The pilgrimage programme announced for 2026 was to include live music, a football match and more music at a terrace restaurant.

Landscape and Regional Setting

Klítka [Hlohovčice] and Holec S [Srbice u Kolovče] are hills in the immediate vicinity of Poděvousy. Běleč and Pohoří are mountains in the wider region.

The Chodský hrad castle with the Chodsko Museum is located in Domažlice, in the region surrounding Poděvousy. Its tower is open to the public.

Cycle Route No. 3 runs through Poděvousy.
