Mochtín: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Mochtín lies at the transition between the Brdy and Šumava mountain regions. The local history includes the Chapel of Our Lady of Help, the monument to those who fell in the First World War, and the preserved façade of the former courtyard of the “U Vlčků” inn.

Culture and Local History

The Chapel of Our Lady of Help in Mochtín was built in 1893. It is the only religious building in the municipality of Mochtín and has been renovated several times; the last reconstruction took place in 1993. The monument to those who fell in the First World War in Mochtín commemorates the local soldiers Emanuel and Václav Doubek. The decorated façade of the former courtyard of the “U Vlčků” inn has also been preserved.

The Úliště mountain [Javor - Loučany] and Buzrakov mountain (Plánický hřeben) are located in the vicinity of Mochtín. Further afield in the region around Mochtín are Běleč mountain and Svatobor mountain.

Cycling Paths and Routes

The “From Klatovy by Bike to Mlázov” cycling route runs along cycle paths and lightly trafficked Class II roads and passes through Mochtín. An 832 m section of Cycle Route 305 runs through Mochtín between the former mill and the road to Újezdec. This section directs cyclists away from the heavily trafficked I/22 road onto a section closed to motorised traffic.

Activities in the Municipality

The existing AKTIVITY Park Kocourov sports and leisure complex, with a downhill skiing area, is located in the Kocourov area within the municipality of Mochtín. Further afield in the region around Mochtín is the Bayerwald-Tierpark Lohberg zoo.
