The village of Lažany has a clearly defined layout: the village is arranged around an irregularly shaped village green with two ponds.
Village Landscape and Nature
The Pod Volfštejnem protected area comprises wet, peaty meadows with characteristic plant communities and numerous specially protected plant species.
Castles and History
In the second half of the 14th century, Lažany belonged to Volfštejn Castle. Later, Lažany became part of the estate of the nearby Třebel Castle.
Volfštejn Castle was founded on a spur of Vlčí hora near Černošín. The path to Volfštejn Castle continues to the summit of Vlčí hora.
The ruins of Třebel Castle are located in the village of the same name, on a rocky promontory above the Kosí potok stream. Třebel Castle has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 1958.
Culture and Trails
The Kosí potok educational trail is 8 km long and provides information about the nature and history of the Kosí potok valley.
The old Německý mlýn mill is located in Lažany, in the cadastral area of Lažany u Černošína. Německý mlýn is accessible by prior arrangement.
In a revision of the Berní rula tax register from 1713, Německý mlýn is described as a mill with three wheels powered by a constant flow of water. According to Z. Jiskra, the Burianovský mlýn mill stood at this site; it is mentioned for the year 1544.
