Kamenický Šenov has an almost three-hundred-year tradition of uninterrupted crystal chandelier production.
Glass and craftsmanship
The permanent exhibition at the Kamenický Šenov Glass Museum traces the development of engraved and cut glass from the 17th century to the present day. It includes historicist crystal chandeliers with pendants and tiered lights; the production tradition of this type of lighting in the region dates back to 1724.
Culture and history
The Baroque Church of the Nativity of St John the Baptist in Kamenický Šenov dates from 1718. The restored Old Cemetery, with Rococo and Neoclassical tombstones dating from around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, is also part of the town's historic fabric.
Landscape and trails
Panská skála is a geological formation created by volcanic activity and a typical example of the columnar fracturing of basalt. An information centre, car park and refreshment facilities are located at Panská skála.
The Cyklostezka Varhany is a path just under 17 kilometres long for pedestrians and cyclists, separated from motor traffic. It follows the former railway line from Česká Lípa to Kamenický Šenov.
Another route follows the Sklářská stezka for 2 kilometres to important sites and monuments in Kamenický Šenov associated with the history of glassmaking.
Historic railway
A 4.5-kilometre museum railway dating from 1886 runs along the route below Zámecký vrch to the glassmaking town of Kamenický Šenov. Following the necessary repairs, seasonal museum operations with historic steam and motor trains were launched.
The circular route “Po stopách železnice” offers the opportunity to travel by historic train through the countryside to Česká Kamenice and back. The circular route begins and ends at the car park near Panská skála.
