Rpety was first mentioned in writing in 1115 and combines this long local history with preserved sacred buildings, traces of ironworking, and paths through the surrounding area.
History and Local Character
A chapel has been preserved on the village square in Rpety. Its present form dates back to 1921. Rpety is also home to a Baroque niche chapel with a statue of a Baroque saint.
From the second half of the 18th century onward, residents of Rpety worked in the nearby iron ore mine on Ostrý. The iron ore extracted on Ostrý was transported to the blast furnace in Jince and to Komárov. Horse breeding is also part of the former history of the village: Rpety was once known for breeding excellent horses.
Activities
The Jezdecký klub Rpety offers horseback rides in the countryside. The club can be reached by driving to the village square in Rpety, passing the pond, crossing a small bridge, and then continuing uphill.
Getting Around
A red-marked hiking trail runs through Rpety from Hořovice to Bludský mlýn. At Bludský mlýn, the red-marked hiking trail branches into a southern section leading to Plešivec and a northern section leading to the railway station in Lochovice. Cycle Route 302 is also available to visitors in Rpety.
