The Broumy glassworks was built in 1599 by the glassmaker Kryštof Schürer on the basis of a letter patent issued by Emperor Rudolf II. This marked the beginning of a local history whose traces extend into the present day.
History
The main building of the glassworks has survived to this day as the former residence of the Broumy glassmaker. In the present-day locality of U DVORA, visitors can also see the sites of the former Broumy glassworks and the former manor farm.
Culture
The local amateur theatre ensemble has performed under the name “MÁJ” since 1941 and is the second-oldest in the Beroun area. The Staročeské máje are also a local tradition that is still maintained and independently organised by the young people of Broumy.
The Broumy Museum displays a collection of beetles and butterflies donated to the municipality by Miloš Kohout. It also features a room dedicated to agriculture and crafts, as well as a small exhibition of old office equipment. The Broumy Museum offers guided tours by prior arrangement.
Pivovar Matuška was founded on 13 April 2009, Easter Monday; on that day, a special dark lager was brewed as its first batch. The brewery belongs to the category of small breweries.
Nature
The entire cadastral area of Broumy lies within the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area. Part of the Týřov National Nature Reserve also lies in Broumy; this area is not accessible.
Activities
The Municipality of Broumy organises the “Broumský špacír” hiking day every year on the second Saturday in October. The “Broumský špacír” offers routes of 10, 15 and 20 km. Participants receive a certificate of participation and a small refreshment.
The Broumy – Kublov – Velíz questing route starts at the Broumy Municipal Office. Game cards and a map are available there.
