Smolonje: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Protected cultural heritage in Smolonje includes the Church of Saint Vitus, the Studenca Bridge over the Drinjka, which is a protected structure, and the remains of the Dragošević mills.

Culture

The repertoire of KUU Mosor Gata includes the gatsko nijemo kolo, a form of intangible cultural heritage recognised by UNESCO. Children from Smolonje take part in KUU Mosor Gata. KUU Mosor Gata also preserves old customs from Poljica.

Residents of Smolonje and their guests take part in a pilgrimage to Saint Vitus, following a path to the church. The access path to the church is considered unsuitable for older or less mobile hikers. The church bell was repaired after storm damage in 2020 and returned to the church. The local feast of Saint Vitus is celebrated on 15 June.

In the Smolonje area, it is a local custom to hang a cypress tree on the house when a child is born.

Landscape

Smolonje lies in the Gata–Cista–Ostrvica–Zvečanje–Smolonje flysch depression of Srednja Poljica, between limestone barriers and the Mosor massif. In the central Poljica area around Mosor, Smolonje is considered green and peaceful.
