Zvečanje: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Zvečanje is a historic Poljica parish and was formerly a katun. The parish of Zvečanje has been independent since the 16th century. Those who choose Zvečanje as a travel destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.

Culture and History

The Church of St Michael is first mentioned in 1625 and was consecrated in 1781. The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located in Gornje Selo. Above its main portal is a Bosančica inscription dated June 12, 1722.

The Church of the Holy Cross stands in the hamlet of Brdine. In 1745, it was considered a new church that was still under construction. It preserves the body of Saint Cvjetko, who was brought here from the former Glagolitic seminary in Priko.

The churches of Sveti Luka, Sveti Stjepan and Gospa Lurdska are located in the vicinity of Zvečanje.

Landscape

Zvečanje extends southeast as far as the Cetina River. Golo Brdo (a mountain), Grečica (a peak), Sedlo (a mountain) and Botajna (a mountain) are located approximately in the area around Zvečanje.

In the broader regional surroundings of Zvečanje, Dalmatia is classified approximately as an ancient site. The Archaeological Museum is also located within this broader regional area.

Trails and Activities

The Prinos Gospin procession carries the statue of the Virgin Mary two kilometres to Gračina on the last Sunday in July and then returns it to Gornje Selo.

The Ilirska riječna staza is a five-kilometre route of moderate difficulty with a duration of 1 hour and 15 minutes. Historically, the residents of Zvečanje used this path to travel towards Omiš. The hiking trail from Zvečanje to Lišnica, the easternmost peak of Mosor, is called Milanova staza.

The Omiš Evergreen cycling route between Gata and Podgrađe also passes through Zvečanje.
