Borak: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nature and Trails

Put Borka is steep, narrow and winding and can only be accessed by passenger cars. From the road, the access route to Fortica continues nearby along a well-marked forest path; the easy ascent takes up to 50 minutes.

From Borak, a steep ascent leads after about an hour to the Voda na Rašeljku spring. After the Stražine plateau, the route reaches the highest peak of Omiška Dinara at 864 metres.

Luda kuća is located along the described hiking trail at an altitude of 650 metres; it is considered a mountain hut.

Golo Brdo, Sedlo and Botajna are considered mountains, while Grečica is considered a peak; all four are located approximately in the surrounding area of Borak's centre.

Culture and History

The Church of St Stephen in Borak is mentioned in records from 1527 and 1579 and predates the arrival of the Ottomans. A brotherhood cared for it; a visitation record from 1603 notes that this brotherhood had old rules. The building has a round window with a stone cross and a bell gable for two bells.

The remains of an Illyrian fortress more than two thousand years old are located on the summit of Kula.
