Dugi Rat: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the municipality of Dugi Rat, a continuous sandy beach stretches for approximately 3 km from Cape Dugi Rat to the border with Omiš. The shallow water zone in front of it is approximately 300–400 m wide and gradually reaches a depth of 2–3 m. Above the settlements of Dugi Rat, the subsidiary ridges of Mount Mosor rise more than 400 m above sea level.

The Riviera also offers diving opportunities over shallow underwater areas, at deep walls and cliffs, and at a sunken wreck from the Second World War.

Routes and Activities

The “St. John” enduro cycling route leads from Dugi Rat via Jesenice and Sv. Ivan back to Dugi Rat. The “Ponor” enduro cycling route runs along the Dugi Rat–Jesenice–Stare Duće–Dugi Rat route and is classified as having a technical difficulty level of 5. The “Viper” enduro cycling route starts in the center of Dugi Rat, follows the Industrijski put–Stare Duće–Zagrad route and returns to Dugi Rat.

The cycling tour “A Mythical Cycling Tour” starts in Dugi Rat, leads via Jesenice, Zeljovići, Stare Duće and Duće, and returns to Dugi Rat. The 8.2 km-long “Sveti Ivan” enduro cycling route starts in the center of Dugi Rat at a public parking lot and leads via Jesenice and Sveti Ivan back to Dugi Rat. It has an elevation gain of 246 m and consists of 50% asphalt and 50% gravel. Another route, the “Battalion” enduro cycling route, starts in the center of Dugi Rat, includes the Dugi Rat lookout point and follows the Dugi Rat–Stare Duće–Dugi Rat route.

Perun Hill is considered a place for hiking and more demanding climbing tours with climbing ropes.

Culture and History

The Kadić House in Dugi Rat is one of the coastal houses built around the turn of the century with more recent stylistic features. Near Dugi Rat lies the old village of Stare Duće, with preserved historic stone houses and historical monuments. The Feast of Saint John the Baptist is celebrated in June in Greben, at the tripoint of Krug, Mali Rat and Dugi Rat.

The Church of Sv. Stjepan stands on the remains of earlier religious buildings. A 82 cm-high stone statue of Saint Stephen has been preserved; it was created in the workshop of Nikola Firentinac in the second half of the 15th century. Above the village of Sumpetar lies Turska peć Cave, a 40-meter-long prehistoric site.

The cultural and artistic association ensemble “DALMACIJA” in Dugi Rat was founded on March 8, 1967, to preserve Dalmatian traditional customs as well as traditional and choreographed dances and songs. The ensemble organizes numerous cultural events in the area of the Municipality of Dugi Rat.

Cuisine and Tradition

In the taverns of Dugi Rat, you can try Soparnik, a specialty from Poljica that is on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. At the Poljički Soparnik Festival, there was a competition in which 20 participants prepared Soparniks on site using six traditional Poljica hearths. The 20th anniversary festival of Poljički Soparnik is regarded as a cultural and gastronomic event with a tradition that has grown over more than two decades.
