Cista Provo is situated in a karst depression at an altitude of approximately 260 metres. The parish church of Saint Peter the Apostle was built in 1914 from dressed stone; the chapel of Saint Mark the Evangelist was built in 1971 on Gradina above the hamlet of Šitumi. The parish of Cista Provo was declared independent on 5 July 1987.
