Cycling

Oskorušno is a stage point on the Ploče/Trpanj–Ston cycling section of EuroVelo 8. From Trpanj, the route crosses a pass into the interior of the peninsula before descending towards Oskorušno.

MTB Trail 2 follows the Kuna–Janjina–Trpanj–Oskorušno–Kuna route. It is approximately 40 kilometres long and rideable throughout without dismounting.

The route of MTB Trail 2 to Oskorušno initially follows a demanding, narrow asphalt ascent and then continues along a macadam road. The Viter mountain trail reaches Oskorušno after a 1,300-metre asphalt ascent and a further 2 kilometres on macadam.

Culture and Landscape

The Church of Saint Nicholas stands high above Oskorušno and is a scenic viewpoint. From there, the view extends to the mouth of the Neretva, the northern coast of Pelješac and the vineyards inland.

On its way to Oskorušno, the Viter mountain trail passes vineyards, olive groves and dry-stone walls. The dry-stone walls and stone piles along the route are associated with clearing karst land for grapevines, olives and figs. The stones used along the Viter mountain trail are associated with the work of women from Pelješac and farm workers.

Nature and Water

The route through Oskorušno leads to Velika Prapratna Bay. The bay combines evergreen forest with crystal-clear sea and is suitable for swimming all day.

Paths and Surroundings

The designated route “Trpanjski putevi maslinovog ulja” leads to Velika Prapratna over 6 kilometres on foot and by bicycle. It passes restored, centuries-old olive groves and dry-stone walls. At intersections and widened sections, there are signs with route information and stone benches; the viewpoints offer a combination of stone, olive trees and sea.

Oskorušno is a recommended passage from southern Orebić towards the hidden coves on the northern side of Pelješac.
