Paths and routes

Trail 719 begins in Sveti Lovreč and extends to Čehići. The easy San Lorenzo 617 cycle route is 33 kilometres long, starts in Sveti Lovreč and ends there again. Of its route, 14 kilometres are asphalt and 19 kilometres are macadam.

The circular hiking trail Put vode, Istra Trails 720, is 11.2 kilometres long. It connects water sources throughout the municipality of Sveti Lovreč and leads to the Rulja spring. A 34.19-kilometre circular mountain biking route also runs near Sveti Lovreč. It has 381 metres of elevation gain and is classified as easy. The “Trail of St. Lovreč captains 146” can also begin in Sveti Lovreč.

Culture and history

Sveti Lovreč is considered one of the best-preserved medieval fortified towns in Istria. Most of the visible fortifications date from the Venetian period.

The parish church of St. Martin is located in the centre of Sveti Lovreč on the main square. The three-nave basilica with three apses dates from the 11th century. The church contains frescoes from the 11th century, which are considered some of the oldest on the Istrian peninsula.

The Church of St. Lawrence dates from the 8th century; its Romanesque bell tower was added in the 11th century. Organum Histriae is an international organ festival dedicated to historic organs in Istria.

Local offerings and events

Gušti Lovreča includes local wine, rakija, olive oil, cheese, cured meats, honey, lavender and handicrafts. In 2025, Žive jaslice held its 14th edition in Sveti Lovreč. The event includes demonstrations of traditional crafts, domestic animals, traditional food and a Christmas market.
