Krnica: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Krnica lies on a hill above the sea and is surrounded by forests, pastures and vineyards. Small coves with rocky beaches are scattered along the Krnica Channel. An asphalt road through pine forest connects the village with Luka Krnica over a distance of more than 2.5 kilometres.

On the northern coast of Krnički Porat, a few minutes’ walk along the white road leads to the rocky beaches. At sunrise, visitors can buy freshly caught fish in Luka Krnica. Those who choose Krnica as a holiday destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.

Water and Coast

The marked snorkelling area at the port of Krnica extends from the small beach past the first beach to the second beach. Organised boat trips are offered in Krnica and at the port of Krnica. Fragments of Roman amphorae on the seabed near Krnički Porat have been reported.

Culture and History

The site of the Church of Saint Theodore associated with Krnica is first mentioned in the year 690. Votive altars dedicated to Melosokus are located there. Archaeological finds include prehistoric pottery as well as ceramic and glass fragments from Late Antiquity.

Krnica is also home to a small Church of Saint Joseph with a painting by V. Trevisan. The Roman Via Flanatica passed through Krnica on the route from Pula to Liburnia. The parish church of Saint Roch dates from 1631 and features Baroque elements. Rokova is a traditional public celebration in Krnica marking the feast of Saint Roch.

Local Life and Products

The Krnica Summer Music Nights & Istrian Products Fair features local products, Istrian delicacies and handmade crafts. For 2026, the event was scheduled to take place every Tuesday in the square in Krnica.

In spring, visitors can pick wild asparagus as well as aromatic and medicinal herbs in Krnica. In autumn, they can gather mushrooms, grapes and olives.
